Situation Update
  • Today, the Ministry of Health confirmed 53 new cases of COVID-19 in B.C. for a total of 1,066 confirmed cases in BC since the outbreak began.

  • Vancouver Coastal Health has 476 cases.

  • There has been one additional death, bringing the province's total to 25.

  • There are currently 142 hospitalized patients, including 67 patients in the ICU/HAU.

  • There are 14 patients at Providence: 12 at SPH (2 in ICU) and 2 at MSJ.

COVID-19 continues to challenge the health care system across British Columbia and Providence Health Care sites.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE) ALLOCATION FRAMEWORK DOCUMENTS

As direction to health authorities and Providence Health Care, the Ministry of Health has provided the "COVID-19: Emergency Prioritization in a Pandemic: Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Allocation Framework (March 2020)."

To alleviate some of the immense stress on our staff and medical staff who are engaged in PHC’s COVID-19 response, Providence has several support resources in place for staff to sustain us going forward.

As we see businesses and services shut down to help "flatten the curve" of COVID-19 cases, there are some things we can’t shut down. Blood Services is one of those things. Our cancer, trauma, and surgical patients haven’t stopped needing essential blood services.
