As of Saturday, April 4 (the last provincial public COVID-19 update), there were 29 new cases for a total of 1203 cases in B.C.
There were an additional three deaths. Total of 38 deaths.
149 people are hospitalized, with 68 in ICU / critical care.
One more long term care site has been affected, for a total of 23 LTC sites across the province.
704 people are now fully recovered.
As of Sunday, April 5 there are 11 patients at Providence - 9 at SPH (3 vented), and 2 at MSJ, one discharge.
The Ministry of Health is providing $2 million of funding to the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research to support a provincial research response to COVID-19. Funding calls for relevant projects will be launched Monday, April 6.

On Saturday, Trudeau announced “millions” of medical masks would be arriving in Canada from China within 48 hours. Today, Canada has put a call out for volunteers to support frontline healthcare workers and is offering full-time jobhttps://www.msfhr.org/s to Canadian Forces reservists. “Bolstering the military’s ranks will help offset some of the economic consequences of COVID-19 and ensure that our communities are well-supported.”
