Situation Update
  • Saturday Provincial Health Update:

    • 92 new test positive cases - 884 confirmed cases in B.C.

      1. 444 VCH

      2. 291 FH

      3. 60 VIHA

      4. 77 IH

      5. 12 NH

    • 81 people in hospital - 52 people in ICU

    • One additional death: 17 in total

    • 396 people have fully recovered - 45% of total

  • Sunday Federal Government Update:
    • $200 million will be contributed to supporting shelters throughout the country for Canadians experiencing homelessness and helping women and children fleeing violence.
    • $9 million will be contributed through United Way Canada for local organizations that support practical services to Canadian seniors.  
    • $7.5 million in funding to Kids Help Phone, which provides counselling services to children and youth.
  • Starting noon Monday, anyone showing signs of COVID-19 will be denied boarding at all domestic flights and intercity passenger trains.

  • Starting Monday, Translink will leave half of all bus seats vacant to enforce physical distancing.

REMINDER: PROVIDENCE PARENTS: TEMPORARY EMERGENCY CHILD CARE FOR ESSENTIAL WORKERS

On March 27 we let you know in partnership with VCH, temporary emergency child care for essential workers is now available for children age 0-12 of PHC essential service workers, who have no other care options during this time.

IN SEARCH OF A RAPID COVID-19 TESTING PROTOCOL

The team at the Centre for Heart Lung Innovation at St. Paul’s Hospital, led by Dr. Don Sin, is working with Simon Fraser University professors to develop and implement a rapid (less than 30 minutes) and cost-effective diagnostic test for COVID-19.

LNG Studios has been producing about 35 face shields a day for frontline health-care workers in the Lower Mainland.
