PERSONAL PROTECT EQUIPMENT (PPE) RECOMMENDATIONS DEVELOPED FOR ACUTE AND COMMUNITY SETTINGS
Last week, the Ministry of Health announced the requirement that all staff, medical staff and contracted staff who have direct contact with patients, clients and residents wear surgical/procedural masks, eye protection and gloves when providing direct care to patients, clients and residents across Vancouver Coastal Health and Providence Health Care.
To support all staff, medical staff and contracted staff with what personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for their care setting, this document was created to outline the recommendations:
PPE Recommendations for Community Settings (including Long Term Care and Assisted Living Facilities)
A poster was also created as a visual reference.
Please note that the Ministry of Health is continuing to engage different stakeholder groups, therefore, these recommendations may be adjusted as the clinical situation dictates.
