Situation Update
  • For Friday, there are 471 new cases including four epi-linked cases, for a total of 69,716 cases in British Columbia.
  • New cases by health authority region:
    • VCH – 108
    • Fraser Health – 208
    • Island Health - 28
    • Interior Health - 56
    • Northern Health - 71
  • Currently, 6,886 people are under active public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases.
  • To date, 149,564 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in B.C., 10,366  of which are second doses. Immunization data is available on the COVID-19 dashboard at: www.bccdc.ca

PHC COVID-19 UPDATE FOR FEBRUARY 5

Providence Health Care has a number of Enhanced Surveillances and Outbreaks that the PHC Pandemic Response Team is currently managing with operational and site leads, in partnership with Public Health. Enhanced cleaning, stringent IPAC and PPE protocols and monitoring and testing of staff and patients continue in all affected areas.

COVID-19 VACCINATION PROGRAM – LATEST UPDATES

Earlier this week, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry announced that the short-term delay in the delivery of vaccines to B.C. will continue through the first two weeks of February. Despite these delays, we continue to prioritize second doses of COVID-19 vaccine for staff and medical staff who received their first dose between Tuesday, Dec. 15 and Thursday, Dec. 31 either at a clinic or on site at a long-term facility

FROM THE DAILY SCAN: REDUCING THE IMPACT OF COVID-19 ON PEOPLE WITH EATING DISORDERS

February 1 to 7 is Provincial Eating Disorders Awareness Week (PEDAW), a BC-wide campaign to raise awareness around prevention and early intervention of eating disorders. To mark this year’s PEDAW, the Daily Scan is spotlighting how COVID-19 has affected people living with eating disorders and the steps the St. Paul’s Provincial Adult Tertiary Eating Disorders Program took to adapt how it delivers care.

UPDATE TO BREAK SPACES AT ST. PAUL’S

Effective Monday, February 8, the break space in Conference Room 8 will be repurposed to accommodate other organizational needs. The space outside the Cullen Lecture Theatre is currently used for vaccination and testing needs.

CST UPDATE: CYCLE 3 CLINICS TRANSITIONING OUT OF GO-LIVE SUPPORT

We’re nearing the end of the second week since we launched the third cycle of Providence Health Care clinics and welcomed them to CST Cerner.

FINDING A FUTURE-PROOF APPROACH TO TRAINING

One outcome for CST, from the COVID-19 pandemic, was the team's ability to swiftly deliver strategic solutions to overcome obstacles, and often the results have been exceptional. This continues to be the case for CST's approach to training.

CLAIMING HOME OFFICE EXPENSES DUE TO WORKING FROM HOME IN 2020

On January 12, 2021, PHC provided an update on new guidance from the Canada Revenue Agency on claiming home office expenses for Providence staff who worked from home during the 2020 tax year due to COVID-19.
