Situation Update
  • There are no new outbreaks at LTC, assisted care or acute sites. Currently, there are 23 active outbreaks: 266 residents/patients and 168 staff.

  • Community outbreaks continue to see increased cases. Superior Poultry - 54 cases, United Poultry - 35 cases, Specialty Poultry - 7 cases. Mission Institution - 134 cases. Kearl Lake - 15 cases.

  • There are currently 77 people hospitalized across the province, with 20 patients in critical care.

  • There were an additional three deaths (since the last reporting day Saturday, May 2), for a total of 117 deaths.

  • 1417 in B.C. have now fully recovered from COVID-19.

  • Dr. Bonnie Henry and Minister Adrian Dix updated the provincial modelling numbers today. Details are below.

  • Premier John Horgan will be joining Dr. Henry and Minister Dix on Wednesday at 3pm to outline the initial plan for reopening the economy.

  • The federal government has announced a $175.6 million investment in Vancouver biotechnology company AbCellera to discover solutions for COVID-19 and build a manufacturing facility for antibody drugs. Read the news release.

Dr. Bonnie Henry released updated modelling information at today’s press briefing, in advance of the announcement on Wednesday detailing the provincial government’s initial plans for reopening the economy.

VIRTUAL HEALTH SPOTLIGHT SERIES — THE EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGY TEAM

On Wednesday April 22, the team here at Providence Health Care held its first ever ZOOM “Stretch and Movement” session led by PHC Exercise Physiologists. It was 15 minutes in length and had 42 Cardiac Rehab patients participate.
