Situation Update
  • Today, 566 new cases were reported for a total of 38,718 cases in BC.
  • There are 9,315 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.
  • There are 352 individuals currently hospitalized with COVID-19, 74 of whom are in intensive care.
  • New cases by health authority region since Friday: VCH – 136; Fraser Health – 297; Island Health - 11; Interior Health - 74; Northern Health - 48, and no new cases of people who reside outside of Canada.
  • There have been 16 new deaths, for a total of 543 COVID-related deaths in the province.
  • We have had no new health-care facility or community outbreaks.
  • The provincial health officer’s orders restricting all gatherings and events have been extended through to Jan. 8, 2021, at midnight. This includes gatherings in people’s homes and in public venues. Read the orders here.

PHC COVID RESPONSE UPDATE

Providence Health Care is continuing to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic challenge in coordination with our Health Authority partners, providing supports to staff to manage patient and resident care, while adapting to new provincial orders and policies.

Dr. Bonnie Henry has extended her orders prohibiting social gatherings of any size with anyone other than your household bubble. Your “bubble” does not include your co-workers.

Please call the Staff COVID-19 Support line: 604-806-9925 or x69925 to receive a call back from a PHC staff person trained in psychological first aid. They will provide you with support and wellness resources.

UPCOMING GOOGLE CHROME START UP PAGE UPDATE

Starting Thursday, December 10, 2020, when launching Google Chrome on PHC computers, PHC Connect will automatically start on PHC Connect. This change aligns the configuration of Chrome to match that of Internet Explorer; other Health Authorities also have similar configurations for Chrome.
