TODAY’S NEWS

  • Today, there are 509 new cases of COVID-19, including six epi-linked cases, for a total of 60,117 cases in B.C.
  •  Active cases: 4,604
  • Currently hospitalized with COVID-19: 349
    •  68 of whom are in intensive care.
  • New cases by health authority region:
    • VCH – 101
    • Fraser Health – 260
    • Island Health - 13
    • Interior Health - 86
    • Northern Health - 49
  • Currently, 7,132 people are under active public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases
  • There have been 9 new COVID-19-related deaths, for a total of 1,047 COVID-related deaths in the province.
  • Since the start of immunizations, 75,914 people have received a COVID-19 vaccine in B.C.

GUIDELINES UPDATE: UNIVERSAL APPLICATION OF CODE BLUE RESPONSE REGARDLESS OF COVID-19 STATUS

The code blue guidelines for suspected/confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been (or will imminently be) updated. We are going back to universally implementing protected code blue guidelines for all patients who experience a cardiac arrest.

PHC RECOGNIZED BLACK SHIRT DAY

January 15th, 2021 is the first annual Black Shirt Day in recognition of the struggle for civil rights fought by Black and racialized Canadians. While Black Shirt Day is not yet officially recognized in BC as a “special day”, PHC joined schools across BC in wearing black shirts.   

CONSTRUCTION NOTICE: PREPARATION WORK FOR NEW 3T MRI TO BEGIN AT SPH ON MONDAY, JANUARY 18

Please be advised that starting on Monday, January 18th, construction will begin to set up some scaffolding and to install a quench pipe for the new 3T MRI being installed in the Radiology Department. There will be some noisy work over the course of the next month or so as we complete this work.

Dialogue on Aging: Public Presentation Series’s next mini presentation will be: Dr. Penny McCourt, MSW, PhD – Supporting Seniors Well-Being We will have ASL (American Sign Language) Interpreters and captioning for those who have hearing impairment.
