Situation Update

For Tuesday, 407 new cases were reported, including three epi-linked cases, for a total of 65,234 cases in British Columbia.
New cases by health authority region:
- VCH – 124
- Fraser Health – 169
- Island Health - 22
- Interior Health - 54
- Northern Health - 38
Currently, 6,450 people are under active public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases.
To date, 122,359 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in B.C., 4,105 of which are second doses. Immunization data is available on the COVID-19 dashboard at: www.bccdc.ca

COVID-19 VACCINATION PROGRAM – LATEST UPDATES

We learned on Monday from Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry that expected deliveries of vaccine to Vancouver Coastal Health and Providence will be further delayed. The province is working with the federal government to ensure our supply gets back on track, but we will have extremely limited vaccine available for the next two weeks.

St. Paul’s Hospital is part of a new network in the Lower Mainland to treat patients with lingering COVID-19 symptoms. VGH and the Jim Pattison Outpatient Care & Surgery Centre are also part of the network, which includes a large research component.

Dr. Marc Romney is leading a study that is examining COVID-19 vaccine immunity among elderly individuals, including residents of long-term care and assisted living sites operated by PHC, as well as the staff who care for them.
