CHANGES TO MAiD LEGISLATION
On March 17, 2021 the Parliament of Canada made changes to Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD), including an expansion to eligibility criteria and changes to the protective safeguards around MAiD. The PHC MAiD Response Policy does not change but the legislated changes will be relevant to our patients, clients and residents who are considering MAiD. For updates and FAQs on this legislative change, see PHC Connect for more information: http://phc-connect/programs/ethics/MAiD/Pages/default.aspx.
As always, PHC’s MAiD Response Lead is available to answer questions, provide education and support to patients, residents, staff and care teams around MAiD requests. Contact Carrie Smith at firstname.lastname@example.org or 604.836.3024 for more information.
If you need to reach PHC’s Infection Prevention and Control Team (IPAC), please call local 69357. Do not contact individual IPAC team members.
