FROM THE DAILY SCAN: VOLUNTEERS BRING NEW LIFE TO HOSPITAL GARDEN
The once neglected inner courtyard at Mount Saint Joseph Hospital has been lovingly restored thanks to the efforts of a team of amazing volunteers, led by Julien Methot.
The pandemic project sought to revitalize the space to encourage others to gather (safety and from a distance), share memories and build new ones. With vibrant flowerbeds, chirping birds and ample seating, the courtyard has been transformed into a space of serenity, just in time for spring.
Interestingly, the courtyard is even home to several famous tables, originally from the Expo 86 World’s Fair.
“It has been wonderful to meet the many health care staff who show up and put their lives on the line, especially during COVID,” says Julien. “It has been a difficult time. Being able to give back and providing them a space to enjoy is a great honour.”
