FIRST-EVER VIRTUAL SCOTIABANK FEAST OF FORTUNE DELIGHTS VIEWERS, INSPIRES DONORS!
Our first virtual Scotiabank Feast of Fortune was a triumph! Hosted seamlessly by MCs Bowen Zhang (in Vancouver) and Lisa Wu (in London, England), performers appeared from as far away as Hong Kong and viewers from Singapore and Australia!
Submitted by St. Paul’s Foundation
PHC staff, donors, sponsors, performers, and members of the community came together last Thursday to welcome the Year of the Ox at our first-ever virtual Scotiabank Feast of Fortune.
And what a celebration it was! The evening featured Vancouver singing sensation Fred Cheng, a thrilling face-changing performance, and a maestro of noodle-pulling. (How far can a little piece of dough stretch? A lot further than you think!)
Best of all, it was a smashing success!
First, we were thrilled with a $1 million matching pledge from Peterson Group, a local real estate company.
Ben Yeung, Peterson’s CEO and Executive Chair, is also a member of the board of St. Paul’s Foundation. He came forward with the pledge to challenge the Chinese community – the entire St. Paul’s community – to support the new St. Paul’s at the Jim Pattison Medical Centre. In other words, when you donate to support the new St. Paul’s, Peterson will double the impact of your gift!
Then, thanks to dozens of truly unique and wonderful items, not to mention some fast-and-furious bidding wars, our silent auction raised a total of $33,259!
And when the ticket was drawn for our very first 50/50 draw, the jackpot stood at almost $12,000! The lucky winner took home half. Even if you didn’t win the draw, the tickets you purchased will provide compassion and comfort across PHC and all of BC.
In all, the evening raised more than $262,000 for the future of health care at the new St. Paul’s.
Since 2008, donors like you have helped raise more than $7.9 million and made Scotiabank Feast of Fortune one of our most impactful fundraising events. This year, as we fundraise for the future of health care at the new St. Paul’s, your gifts will never have a greater impact or help more people. And remember, if you give now, Peterson will double the impact of your gift.
