Love our Seniors
Last summer, one of our PHC volunteers, Annie Yip, started a group called, Love our Seniors. This group was created in hopes of creating a sense of community and to reduce isolation amongst our seniors during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since the group was created, they have demonstrated acts of kindness for various occasions across multiple PHC LTC homes. This includes, wishing you well messages following the HFH outbreak and over 1,000 laminated cards for Thanksgiving, winter holidays, and New Year's.
This week, they created Lunar New Year cards in four different languages and good luck calligraphy squares for residents at Holy Family Hospital and Mount Saint Joseph Hospital.
Residents at both homes were very thankful and excited by the surprise delivery.
Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House
In addition to the efforts by the Love our Seniors group, the Mount Pleasant Neighborhood House also engaged the community and schools to make Valentine’s Cards for seniors in Long Term Care. This week, they brought cards for residents & staff to Holy Family Hospital, Langara and Mount Saint Joseph. They also brought chocolate generously donated by Daniel’s Chocolates — which were quite the hit!
Thank you to our community
Moments like this create an opportunity for us to reflect on how thankful we are to have many generous community partners, especially during this difficult and challenging time.
On behalf of PHC, thank you to all those who were involved in these two initiatives, including our LTC staff and volunteers.
