PHC QUALITY IMPROVEMENT CHALLENGE: COHORT 3 NOW OPEN

Dear PHC Leaders:
We are opening the application process for the Quality Improvement Challenge Cohort 3!
Do you have a process or flow change you need to address? Have a priority issue you’d like to address? A process you’d like to improve? Rocks you’d like to shake out of your shoes?
Take this on in the Quality Improvement Challenge! We are opening the application process for our third cohort. Teams and individuals are encouraged to apply.
The QI Challenge is a professional development program designed for all PHC staff and care providers who want to learn to use the PHC Quality Improvement Framework to make lasting improvements in their work area.
The program will enable participants to:
- Gain the introductory knowledge and practical skill in QI theory, methods, and tools necessary to successfully complete an improvement project at PHC.
- Immediately apply the learning to a QI project with mentorship from a Performance Improvement Consultant.
- Join a network of like-minded people who are passionate about improving the way PHC provides care.
The QI Challenge is free to PHC staff and care providers; however it is the responsibility of the participant and/or the department to provide the time to attend all learning sessions and complete a project.
The time commitment includes 24 hours of virtual learning (eight 3-hour sessions) plus approximately 12 hours of self-directed online learning as well as additional time to complete the project, meet with the project mentor, and update the project sponsor.
The cohort will begin in April 2021 and participants will present their project outcomes in December 2021.
Applications are now being accepted and the process is simple:

- What is the desired outcome of the project
- Why the project is priority for your area (please visit www.missionforward.ca for strategic priorities)
We would like to receive your email by March 19. Once we receive your information either Meghan or the Performance improvement Consultant in your area will connect with you to gather more information.
The sooner we can get your email the better, so we can reach out to you and get more details on your ideas for improvement!
Past participants have shared that the program taught them a lot, including how to thoroughly assess problem before “jumping to solutions”, as well as offering a safe place to test change ideas. Importantly, the QI Challenge has promoted a culture of learning and continuous improvement and has enabled lasting positive change.
