SCOTIABANK VIRTUAL RUN TEAM SPOTLIGHT: PARKVIEW POWER POSSE

Shout out to all the amazing teams from PHC participating in this year’s Scotiabank Virtual Run and fundraising to enhance their departments.

Today, we profile the Parkview Power Posse: a team of 10 Parkview staffers who have already raised more than $8,400!

In the words of Captain Alana:

“At Parkview, we serve people with dementia. As we all know, COVID-19 has restricted visits from companions and families and limited our ability to run group activities. Sadly, social isolation and boredom seem to be having a significant impact on people’s mental and physical health.

I posted my fundraiser on social media and emailed family, friends, and former colleagues. The response has been astonishing. Meanwhile, Parkview’s awesome social workers have helped spread the word to the families of the people we serve. Now they’re donating, too!

We’re fundraising to purchase a central sound system so we can listen to nature sounds on the unit, play dinner music, and throw physically-distant dance parties. We also want to paint murals to hide exit doors and create a more visually stimulating environment.”
